All SunPumps are 240 Volt / 60 hz. 1 phase standard for residential use.

Heat Pumps require a 2-wire + Ground to power the Compressor, and control electronics like the Motherboard and Touch Screen Controller.

Note: A Neutral wire is surplus, there is no need for one or place to connect it, there is nothing in SunPump that is 120 Volt or 24 VAC.. If your power supply from the 15-30 Amp Breaker is installed with a Neutral wire you may cap it, or preferably secure to a small terminal block.

Two Power Supply Wires

Electric Resistance 6 kW Booster Element is optionally wired independent from the Heat Pump power. A 30 or 40 Amp breaker is used for power protection, and a 40 Amp Contactor acts as the 240 Volt Element switch inside SunPump. It is not a functional requirement to wire the 6 kW Booster to make the Heat Pump operate, however it should be considered an important inclusion for trouble-free operation in cold climates.

2017 Models will come with a BX corrugated metal armoured cable, not the black rubber type, so it can be connected inside a standard 4" x 4" recessed wall box to power if in the same room as the Main Breaker Panel, otherwise use a disconnect box to ensure high current power can safely be turned off during servicing.
