All units come with a factory pre-charge. The amount is recorded on the chrome-colored label on the right side of SP case. The pressure/temperature gauges should show a significant charge. (if not, contact us immediately). On a 20 C day, a typical install will see High Pressure in the range of 500-520 PSI at water temps near 50 C, with Low Pressure near the 60-120 PSI range, and a sub-cooling of 5 C (8 F). These are typical and subject to many conditions, mostly ambient temperature.

The SunPump 2.2 AC one speed units are charged for a 5m line set. Generally it is sufficient for most installs, typically the balance will not require many ounces one way or the other so be cautious about adding 5-10 pounds as a warning sign.

  • For the 7kW units the gas line is 1/2" dia and you should be adding 30g for every extra meter of line set length.
  • For the 14kW units the gas line is 5/8" dia and you should be adding 40g for every extra meter of line set length.
  • For the 21kW units the gas line is 3/4" and you should be adding 50g for every extra meter of line set length.

If you get a P05 Error code it is typically an overcharge condition and trips a pressure protection switch. Remove a few ounces.
A P11 Error code is a sign the discharge temperature is to hot (~235 F) and is short of refrigerant, is leaking, or has too little water fow through the Heat Exchanger to remove the heat from building up.
