IMPORTANT!

  • Always calculate room-by-room Heat Loss and use a Equipment Sizing form, it is the installers responsibility.

  • The Buffer tank should be a minimum of 50 gal for a 5 kW, 80 gal for a 7 kW and higher. A guide is 10 gal/1kW.
Buffer tanks must have a 6 kW electric element as backup, should an unexpected weather or service event happen.

  • Allow for 2.5 Gallons Per Minute as a flow rate per 12,000 BTU Heating Capacity. A 7kW(24,000 BTU) needs 5 GPM.

  • Install SunPump indoors in fully conditioned space. A garage with a heater is not fully conditioned space, per BC Code.

  • Heat Traps are required by Code. Make sure to start hot water pipes down 6 inches before going up, or use Heat Trap valves on vertical pipes. Pumps within close proximity may qualify if a spring check valve is part of the pump to prevent thermal-siphoning.

  • Allow not less than 24 inches of room for servicing along the left, front, and right sides. It is a violation to limit service access.

  • Complete and send the HVAC Commissioning PDF form to SunPump to validate the Warranty.
